Conservation Agriculture

Namikango’s Conservation Agriculture program—locally referred to within the framework of Community Health Evangelism (CHE)—emerged from a deep understanding of both the spiritual and physical challenges facing rural Malawian families. Recognizing that 80% of Malawians are subsistence farmers, Namikango launched this initiative to address long-standing issues of food insecurity, environmental degradation, and economic dependency. Our sustainable farming workshops provide a robust model that equips communities to steward the land while deepening their faith.

The methodology combines hands-on training in soil restoration, composting, mulching, agroforestry, and beekeeping. Trainers build relationships with local leaders and farmers, working with them to identify needs, co-create solutions, and empower long-term ownership. Unlike traditional aid models, this approach emphasizes dignity and self-sufficiency, helping Malawians to break cycles of poverty.

Today, hundreds of farmers across Malawi are experiencing greater yields, improved soil health, and stronger community bonds. Many are reinvesting their harvest profits into education, small businesses, or community savings groups. More than just improving crops, the program is cultivating transformation—restoring both the land and the people who depend on it. It is a vivid picture of God’s Kingdom at work, where creation care and spiritual growth go hand in hand.
