We know many good people, but Truman stands out. After his father was killed, young Truman became a pillar for his mother and remained so all of her life. He had absolute faith in Christ all his days. In his last weeks, during spikes of pain, Truman would quote prayers from the Psalms.
He was a hard worker and master farmer. He became a loving husband and father, raising a godly family. He loved the church and served as an exemplary leader. Everyone looked up to him, whether in church or in the community.
Truman loved across racial boundaries. He passed down his values to generations. He was patient with the weak. He was faithful in prayer and Bible reading, influenced by his mother and grandmother. He generously gave to support church and mission work. He loved and promoted Christian unity. In his retirement years Truman loved prison ministry and involved family members and fellow Christians in it. There is no way to count the lives he helped to change. He was a rock, and how we thank God for him.
