Namikango sent four of our staff members to Johannesburg, South Africa to attend SAIL. SAIL (Southern Africa International Lectureships) is a large annual event that
provides spiritual encouragement and engagement for people from all over Africa. Established more than 55 years ago, the international Lectureship is an event that takes place every year where an average of 3500 leaders of the Church of Christ throughout the Southern African region engage with each other. The lectureships have not taken place since COVID in 2020 and it was exciting to be able to send some of our staff for the restart of the annual event this year.
Moses Nsema, the Education Manager at Namikango, and one of the attendees this year, writes the following about the trip.
“The theme, “I Am Not Ashamed of the Gospel (Roman 1:16),” underscored the importance of confidence and conviction in spreading the message of Christianity. The importance of discipleship in nurturing believers and strengthening faith communities was emphasized, with practical insights shared on discipleship methods and practices. A significant contingent of 28 individuals from Malawi attended and added depth to the discussions bringing a unique perspective to the training sessions.”
“The Southern Africa International Lectureship provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to deepen their understanding of the gospel and strengthen their commitment to its message. Moving forward, participants are encouraged to apply the knowledge and insights gained during the lectureship in their respective ministries and communities, fostering greater unity and impact in advancing the kingdom of God in Southern Africa and beyond.”
In addition to individuals from Malawi, other participating countries included: Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and South Africa.
